Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club
The Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, established on July 6, 1911, is the oldest and most prestigious private golf and country club in Oklahoma City. Initially formed by a committee of 300 members who acquired 160 acres of land in what is now known as the Crown Heights Addition, the club’s membership grew rapidly. Seeking a more central location, the club’s leadership, in collaboration with developer G.A. Nichols, decided to relocate to Nichols Hills. This decision was influenced by Nichols’ vision of creating an ideal subdivision that included a premier golf course.
Renowned golf course designer Perry Duke Maxwell was consulted, and the course he designed opened in the summer of 1929. In 1930, a significant trade was negotiated between Nichols and the club’s officers, resulting in the relocation of the club to Nichols Hills, where it remains to this day, boasting a clubhouse, swimming pool, and the acclaimed 18-hole Perry Maxwell-designed golf course.
