LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS (September 30, 2024) – The Jackson T. Stephens Cup (“JTS Cup”) announced today that invitations have been extended to 12 individual golfers from
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and United States Service
Academies to join the field of 12 men’s and women’s collegiate teams competing
in the fourth annual event October 21-23 at Oklahoma City Golf & Country
Club.
Since the event’s inception in 2021, the Jackson T. Stephens Cup tournament committee has
extended invitations to individual players as part of its celebration of diversity of education, ethnicity and background. Individuals from four HBCUs (Florida A&M University, Howard University, Prairie View
A&M University and Texas Southern University) and three United States
Service Academies (United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy
and United States Air Force Academy) will compete in the stroke-play portion of
the competition.
The tournament also announced the return of Dillard’s and Workday as official partners, continuing
their multi-year support of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
Back for the second year, on Sunday, October 20 is Jack’s Day presented by Love’s, a special part
of tournament week that welcomes the local First Tee chapter to the JTS Cup to interact with players and participate in a youth clinic. All proceeds from this year’s ticket sales will be donated to the First Tee.
Named in honor of the late Jackson (Jack) T. Stephens, the former Chairman of Augusta National
Golf Club, The Jackson T. Stephens Cup annually hosts one the strongest fields in NCAA Division I golf. This year’s competition will be played October 21–23, at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.
“The depth of talent among the players in this year’s Jackson T. Stephens Cup is a testament to the state of amateur golf today. These highly accomplished golfers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the United States Service Academies only strengthens this competitive field. We committed from the outset to include these players in our tournament and let them compete at one of the highest levels in college golf,” said Warren Stephens, Chairman of The Jackson T. Stephens Cup. “We’re also excited to welcome the First Tee of Oklahoma City for the second annual Jack’s Day. We anticipate a great turnout once again that will see the juniors participate in clinics with many of the players in the tournament. The First Tee has been a part of my family since its inception, and we’re excited to continue Dad’s contributions to the organization.”
